               To: Trau Dien Col Dinh:
My very dear friend; first, I am happy that you are better. , I am also very touched by
your article. I will always treasure our professional and personal relationship. I think you
underestimate how much you taught me. I became a better officer because of my relationship
with you and the other Marines of Trau Dien.
The one thing I have learned over the years is that rank is not as important as
friendship. The bond created by being a band of brothers stretches over time and distance.
The kindness shown to Peg and myself by you and your family will always be remembered.
Please pass my thanks to Yvonne and warm regards.
Take care of your self my friend
             Trau Dien
             Jack

To: Trau Dien Major To Van Cap
I am deeply touched by your article. Each time I rad it, I remember how proud I am
be be include as a member of the Trâu Điên family.
My reunion/visit with Col. Dinh and his family in San Diego was a very special event
for myself and my wife. For years my wife had heard stories and seen pictures of the famous
Col.Dinh. She was both impressed and touched with the humble manner of this true warrior.
We could not have been more welcome in their home.
That evening, was a memory we will both share because it was so very special.
Major To Van Cap, I was very disappointed that you were not able to attend. The
bravery of the Marines of your company to save First Lieutenant Joe Bagerstock was not
only an act of bravery but also demonstrated the special relationship between the VNMC and
             the USMC.
That is a bond that was forged under fire and transcends time and distance.
I have include a copy of a picture of one of your Marines that help save Lt. Bagerstock.
(Sorry the picture is not clearer but it is like us over fifty years older)
One brief personal story. Frequently when I attend a USMC event I wear my VNMC tie
(a treasured gift) The younger Marines all ask about the VNMC and they are fascinated with
             its history and battle exploits.
Thank you again for writing of this special reunion. I will always remember the
leadership example and bravery of Col. Dinh . I became a better U.S. Marine because of him.

             Semper Fi. Trau Dien
             Jack Sheehan
